HOLY WEEK

THURSDAY

Read: Luke 19:30-35

30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’” 32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.” 35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it.

Study: There were some who had followed Jesus into Jerusalem on the day of Palm Sunday who were Jesus’s disciples. The disciples were certainly not perfect. Most of the Disciples were nowhere to be seen Jesus was beaten and hung from the cross. The disciples were afraid of what might happen to them and had abandoned their commitment of Jesus. However, the disciples were still different than so many others who had gathered in Jerusalem. What made the disciples different was that they helped make the parade possible. The disciples got the donkey and prepared it for Jesus to ride. The disciples of Jesus were willing to help Jesus do the things that he needed to do. Disciples of Christ do not just believe in Jesus, but participate in the ministry of Jesus. Are you actively working to help God accomplish his goals in the world? Are you helping bring Jesus to those who need to see him? Are you a follower instead of a fan?

Prayer: God I want to follow you. I want to take the opportunity to bring your kingdom to earth.  Please help me to be a follower instead of a fan. Amen.
