ENVY

Introduction: This week we will be focusing on the sin of sloth.  Sloth is traditionally listed as one of the “7 deadly sins” because it is a sin that can lead us on a path to many others.  Sloth is not just doing nothing, but neglecting to do the things that God wants us to do.  Sloth is living without a passion for things that deserve our passion.  This week we will discuss the danger of sloth and how to avoid living a life without zeal. ~ Pastor Adam Ricks

Friday

Read: Ephesians 4:1-3

1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. (NIV Ephesians 4:1-3)

Study: I eliminate sloth by working diligently on the tasks God has assigned to me.  One of the most powerful methods by which we can avoid all sins is not by abstaining, but focusing our energy on what we should do.  When we focus our zellous energy on the calling and work that God has for each of us, we do not have time for sin.  Sloth is only avoided by actively answering God’s call with zeal.  Every day that we do righteous things in service to God, is a day we cannot fall to the temptation of sloth.  How will you spend your energy today?  What is God calling you to do with your time and energy?

Prayer: Help me to focus on your plans for my life.  Whenever I am distracted please refocus me back to the plan that you have for me. Amen.
