GPS Guide – January 29, 2020

FIVE YEARS FROM NOW SERIES

This Weeks Introduction: When we set lifelong spiritual goals for ourselves, we must understand that our lives will not always be the way that they are currently.  We will experience a variety of seasons that come and go.  Through every season we are called to seek after sanctification.  Sanctification is the idea that each of us has a potential that we can reach.  Each of us can become who God designed us to be.  This journey towards sanctification does not happen by only pursuing Christ sometimes.  Each season of our life presents unique opportunities to learn something unique about what it means to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.  This week’s GPS guide will help you to think and pray about faithfully pursuing your spiritual goals through the ups and downs of life.  ~ Pastor Adam Ricks

Wednesday

Read: James 5:13

13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. ” (NIV James 5:13)

Study: We must faithfully pursue sanctification during seasons of happiness.  It can sometimes be more difficult to focus on our spiritual growth during times of happiness than in times of struggle.  When we are happy we must take that opportunity to develop the spiritual discipline of offering God praise and thanksgiving.  When we are happy it can be easy to ignore areas in our life in need of work.  Do you still strive for spiritual growth in times of happiness?  Do you offer God praise and thanksgiving in times of joy?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me be faithful to offer praise and thanksgiving in times of joy.  Please help me to grow as a disciple of Christ even when things are going well. Amen.
