STRENGTH AND DELIVERANCE

Wednesday

Read: Esther 2:19-20

“When the virgins were assembled a second time, Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate. But Esther had kept secret her family background and nationality just as Mordecai had told her to do, for she continued to follow Mordecai’s instructions as she had done when he was bringing her up.” (NIV Esther 2:19-20)

Study: Mordecai instructed Esther to hide her Jewish identity. He could have done this to protect her, because he was ashamed, or because he knew that God had a plan. Either way, do you think he was right to hide his Jewish identity? Have you ever felt like you had to hide your Christianity? Sometimes we feel like we will be judged, or presumptions will be placed upon us if we openly show our faith. Today, I want to challenge you to be open and honest with your beliefs. If you feel the pressure to hide what you believe from others, take a moment to ask God to give you the strength and courage to be who you were called to be.

Prayer: Lord, give me the strength to be who you called me to be. Let your light shine bright within and through me in this world. Amen.
