Read: 1 John 1:7

Study: What is John telling us here when he says, “if we walk in the light, we have fellowship”? What does it mean to “walk in the light”? If we follow the example of Jesus in the Gospels, we can see one example of how fellowship can unite people who are divided. When Jesus met with someone he disagreed with, such as Levi the tax collector, we see that he invited him to eat. If we seek to “walk in the light” with people whom we may disagree with, we can simply invite those people to eat and fellowship together. When you get to know someone as a person, it is a lot harder to demonize them for disagreeing over beliefs. Is there someone you can invite to lunch this week?

Prayer: God, even when I disagree with someone, give me the strength to reach out to them in humility. Help me to walk in the light with you. Amen.
