FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD

Thursday

Read: Matthew 5:14-16

14  You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. ” (NIV Matthew 5:14-16)

Study: Many people do good things for the wrong reasons. Many people to wrong things for the right reasons. Often times, our mistakes are made when we try to impress someone else. We don’t do good things to earn anything or to impress anyone. We do them to give glory and honor to God. This is why Matthew compares our faith and our works to the light of a candle. We are supposed to show the world the beauty of a life lived for Christ. In what ways are you shining the light in the world around you? Are you doing it for the right reasons?

Pray: Heavenly Father, I pray today that you test my motives to be true. I desire to be a light of the world for you. Give me the strength to shine bright for all to see.
