FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD

Wednesday

Read: Titus 1:16

16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. ” (NIV Titus 1:16)

Study: Paul is writing this letter to a man named Titus who lives on the island of Crete off of Greece. The Cretans were gaining a reputation as lazy liars among their own people and those outside of Crete. This is why Paul writes to them. The people were claiming Christ with their words but their actions were denying Christ. Paul’s harsh language here shows just how important it is that our actions match our words and beliefs. Today, think about your own actions and your words. Is there any disparity between the two?

Pray: Lord, may I not be like the Cretans who claim to know you but who’s actions are not fitting. I pray that you be with me as I strive to live in a way pleasing unto you. Amen.
