7 Reasons God Wants You to be Tenacious
March 23, 2015 / /
We all have ups and downs in life, and sometimes these vary week-to-week and day-to-day. But occasionally we find ourselves in a difficult situation that seems like there is no end in sight. God knows we will go through these extended tough times, and calls on us to persevere. Here’s why.
The Bible mentions at least 7 reasons why God wants us to be tenacious in tough times:
- Not everyone wants you to succeed. We will all face obstacles. We can either figure out how to overcome them, or settle for less than what God has called us to.
- We don’t know the future, but God does. Joshua 1:9 says “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
- God is in control and has great plans for you. Philippians 1:6 says “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Isaiah 41:10 says “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
- You can accomplish more than you think. According to Philippians 4:12-13, “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
- Patience can be tenacious. In Psalm 31:24 we learn to “Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!”
- The harvest does not happen instantly as anything worth doing takes time. Galatians 6:9 says “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up”.
- There will be time to rest. In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus tells us “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”.
What about you? What gives you strength to preserver when life gets tough? Leave a comment and let us know!
And join us on Sunday April 5th at 11:00am as we begin a new sermon experience talking about how living a life with God can help overcome life’s obstacles.
