One of the most important things about being a disciple of Jesus is remembering we stand for something bigger than ourselves. I encourage you to read 1 Corinthians chapter 12. In this chapter of Paul’s writings we learn that each of us is the body of Christ. Because we are the body of Christ our actions represent Christ. In 1947 Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in professional baseball. Throughout that season Robinson conducted himself beyond reproach. Robinson knew he was fighting for something that was bigger than himself. Because he knew what he was doing was bigger than himself, he was able to do something extraordinary. Sometimes we forget we represent Christ. Sometimes we forget our actions have implications that can impact the kingdom of God. I encourage you, as disciples of Jesus, to remember you represent something bigger than yourself. God has asked us to bring hope, love, grace, peace, and joy into the world. God is asking you to live as if you are living for something greater.
