A Message From Pastor Adam (10-30-2020)

Hello Church Family!

I hope this letter finds you all well.  This has been a challenging, scary, difficult, and very encouraging year.  As individuals and as a church family we have faced challenges, but also had great victories.  I have been so blown away with how our church has risen to every unexpected challenge that 2020 has put in our path.  To spread the hope and love of Christ in an unprecedented time, we have all had to do ministry in unprecedented ways.  When I told our staff and volunteers, “we needed to figure out how to do online church,” I was not greeted with discouragement or the statement, “we have never done that before.”  The staff and volunteers immediately set to work learning what they needed to make online worship possible.  I said,” we need to have our meetings on zoom instead of in person,” sure no problem.  I said, “let’s try bible study virtually,” ok let’s give it a go.  I said, “we need to call and check on each other since we can’t get together in person,” many people volunteered.  I asked “how can we help our children who are stuck at home?” and our children’s team came up with ‘take out church’ for at home learning.  I have been flooded with calls from members trying to figure out how they can help others who have fallen on hard times this year.   Church family, I am in awe of you.  You have found a way to support one another even while you have to stay apart.  Thank you all so much for being flexible, faithful, hopeful, and for loving God.  Many of you have even increased your giving in 2020 so that we can be of help to those members of our community who are in need.

I know that so many of you continue to face the challenges of working from home, homeschool, and financial hardships, but you have honored God with your faithfulness to the church and to God.  And your faithfulness to our church has enabled us to be faithful to our community.

As our church begins to make plans for 2021, we have some big dreams about how we can make an impact in the name of Jesus.  We want the community to know, even when the world seems unpredictable, we can always count on the love and grace of Jesus Christ.  One of the key elements of planning our ministries for 2021 is financial planning.  This year I am pleased to announce that we have received a grant that will allow Connect Church to not only service our building debt, but also minister to the world in new and powerful ways.  This grant will match all new pledges and pledge increases up to $60,000 for 2021.  This means that if you increase your 2021 pledge $1,000 over your 2020 pledge you will actually be giving an additional $2,000 to help Connect Church make a difference for Jesus Christ.  If you did not make a pledge in 2020 your entire pledge for 2021 will be matched.  The grant will then be awarded to Connect Church in several instalments throughout the year as you faithfully contribute your pledge.  This grant is going to make some amazing things possible for Connect Church, and I am asking for your help in reaching our goal of increasing pledges by a total of $60,000.  Our church has always faithfully responded when called, and I am confident that this year we will achieve our goal.

You can fill out your 2021 pledge card by following the link below.  It is our goal to have all pledge cards turned in by November 15th 2020.  I will continue to pray for you and your family throughout the challenges of the pandemic.  Thank you so much for your faithfulness and I look forward to doing ministry with you in the upcoming year.

In Christ,
Pastor Adam Ricks
