Introduction: This week we will be focusing on the sin of sloth.  Sloth is traditionally listed as one of the “7 deadly sins” because it is a sin that can lead us on a path to many others.  Sloth is not just doing nothing, but neglecting to do the things that God wants us to do.  Sloth is living without a passion for things that deserve our passion.  This week we will discuss the danger of sloth and how to avoid living a life without zeal. ~ Pastor Adam Ricks

Read: Genesis 2:15

¹⁵  “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” (NIV Genesis 2:15)

Study: Work and productivity are an essential part of God’s design for our lives.  When God placed Adam in the garden he was given the job of taking care of the garden.  God did not need someone to take care of the garden, God was perfectly capable of doing that on his own.  God knew that Adam was created with a need to do work and be productive.  Adam needed to work in order to be spiritually healthy.  Sloth is a sin that prevents us from being spiritually healthy and productive.  Is sloth a part of your life?  Do you ever fight against God’s commandment to be productive?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help me to remember I am called to work.  You have called me to specific things, please let me answer that calling. Amen.
