A LIFE OF PIETY

Wednesday

Read: Titus 2:11-14

11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. ” NIV Titus 2:11-14)

Study: Saying to “no” to the unrightous things in life does not always come naturally to us. Those things are fun and make us feel accomplished and good about ourselves. That is why Paul writes that we must be taught by the spirit and grace of God. We cannot rely on our own understanding. In order to live a pious life, we must let go and ask God to show us his mercy and grace so that we can use that as an example of how to live. Throughout the day, as you pray, take a second to look around and see where God is present. Use that presence as a guide to teach you something about the grace of God.

Pray: Lord, teach me. Teach me to be more like your Son Jesus. Teach me to imitate his grace and love. I cannot do it alone. Fill my heart with your love so I can show that love to others. Amen.
