QUICK TO LISTEN, SLOW TO SPEAK

Read: 1 Corinthians 13:4

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. ” (NIV 1 Corinthians 13:4)

Study: This verse is commonly used in weddings ceremonies to show the importance of patience in a loving relationship. But this advice is applicable to more than just a marriage. It can apply to all of our relationships as Christians. Waiting before responding is often how God calls us to love those around us. Our natural impulse is often to respond to people when they are struggling or come to us for help. This verse also reminds us that we do not always know the answer when someone comes to us. Sometimes, we are called listen.

Pray: Heavenly God, today I come to you with a grateful heart. Thank you for the love you have shown me. Give me the strength to show that love to others; not by being proud or boasting, but by listening to those who need to talk.  Amen.
