OWN IT – GIFTED TO SERVE

Monday

Read: Romans 12:6-8

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”  (NIV Romans 12:6-8)

Study:  Sometimes it can seem like certain people are more gifted or suited to serve God than others. This is not the case! Paul shows us here in Romans that every person has gifts suited to serving God. Each person’s gifts are different but each person’s gifts are good in the eyes of God. What Paul is trying to emphasize here to the Church in Rome is the importance of using these gifts with a positive attitude. When we use our gifts to serve God, we should do it out of generosity, mercy, cheer, and zeal. What can you do this week to reflect these attitudes in your service to God?

Prayer: Heavenly God, thank you for giving all of your people gifts. Help me to use those gifts to serve you.   Amen.
