Lent Devotion Daily Guide – March 18, 2022

Today we will be doing our last lesson from the life of Basil the Great (329AD-379AD). Basil the Great once wrote about proprieties. Basil said, “A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.” Throughout his life Basil worked to bring God’s hope, love, peace, and grace to the world. Basil came to believe the good deeds of our lives had an eternal impact. Basil believed kindness created friendships and drew people closer to God. Our relationship with God and others is the thing that will last into eternity. Today I encourage you to follow the example of Basil and prioritize kindness. How kind can you be to others this weekend? In what ways could you go out of your way to spread more kindness in the world? Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
