Lent Devotion Daily Guide – March 11, 2022

My faith is not all about me. The reason we are talking about our Christian legacy is not because we are laser focused on ourselves. The reason we are talking about our Christian legacy is because our faith has a direct impact on others and the world. In 1 Peter 4:10-11 we learn, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Christians have the privilege of God’s grace. This grace assures us we are loved unconditionally and forgiven of our shortcomings. However, when we receive God’s grace, we do not become owners of the grace. We are simply stewards of the gifts given to us by God. We must decide what kind of stewards we will be. Every person who lives on this earth will impact the lives of others. We don’t have a choice on weather or not we will have an impact on others. Our choice is if our impact on others will be righteous or evil. Will we carry on God’s legacy of love, or will we perpetrate a legacy of harm? The reason we are talking about legacy is because of our love for others. We must leave behind the legacy of Christ, not for us, but for a world in need.
