ENVY
Introduction: This week we will be focusing on the sin of sloth. Sloth is traditionally listed as one of the “7 deadly sins” because it is a sin that can lead us on a path to many others. Sloth is not just doing nothing, but neglecting to do the things that God wants us to do. Sloth is living without a passion for things that deserve our passion. This week we will discuss the danger of sloth and how to avoid living a life without zeal. ~ Pastor Adam Ricks

Read: Proverbs 22:13
13 The sluggard says, “There’s a lion outside! I’ll be killed in the public square!” (NIV Proverbs 22:13)
Study: Sloth causes great harm to ourselves and others. God has called us to do certain things to care for ourselves and certain things to care for the people in our lives. Sloth is not just laying around in bed. Sloth is not doing the things that God wants us to do for ourselves and others. In today’s proverb the lazy person simply cries out because there is a lion, but does nothing to find safety. God expects us to take action for ourselves and for others. When we fail to do the things that God calls us to do, our neglect causes harm to ourselves and others. In what ways have you neglected something that God has called you to do for yourself or for another? How has this neglect harmed you or another?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to answer your call. I want to care for my spirit and the spirit of others. Please help me hear your call and respond. Amen.
