ENVY

Introduction: This week we will be focusing on the sin of Envy.  Envy is traditionally listed as one of the “7 deadly sins” because it is a sin that can lead us on a path to many other sins.  This week we will examine envy, and the way in which we might be able to escape its powerful grip. ~ Pastor Adam Ricks

Read: Proverbs 14:30

” 30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” (NIV Proverbs 14:30)

Study: Envy steals away our peace.  The scripture often talks about the importance of finding peace.  An essential step in finding peace is finding contentment for the blessings God has given to us.  Envy lies to us and tells us that we are not happy.  Envy tells us we should not be content because someone else has more.  An obsession with the blessings of others will prevent us from finding the peace that comes with contentment.  Are you missing out on peace because you are envious?  Is envy robbing you of the joy that comes with peace and contentment?  What can you do to eliminate envy in your life?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to be at peace.  I want to grow and be better, while also finding contentment and peace.  Please help me to find this balance. Amen.
