Lent Devotion Daily Guide – March 9, 2022
The Christians of today owe what we know about God’s love to the Christians who came before us. Jesus taught his disciples about the love of God, and in turn those disciples taught many others about the gospel of grace. Today it is our turn to do our part and carry Jesus’ message of love to the next generation. It is our responsibility to make sure those coming after us hear and see the story of the love of Jesus. Carrying the message of God’s love to the next generation is our legacy.
One of the most dangerous obstacles to carrying the message of God’s love to the next generation is false prophets. In Mathew 7:15-19 Jesus warns us about the dangers of false prophets. These false prophets of the past and present tell lies to convince Christians to do, say, and believe things contrary to the gospel of Jesus. Some false prophets have convinced others it is good to treat people with hatred because of their lifestyle. Some false prophets have convinced others it is acceptable to hate and dismiss people who disagree with us. Some false prophets have convinced others we do not have to lead with love and grace. Throughout history many Christians have fought against false prophets. These Christians fought to remind others of the Greatest Commandment to love God and love others.
Take a moment and Read Matthew 7:15-19.
Do you believe there are false prophets today? What are they teaching?
What can you do to make sure we are continuing God’s legacy of grace and love in the face of false prophets?
