Lent Devotion Daily Guide – March 17, 2022
Today we are going to continue to learn lessons from the life of Basil the Great. During the year 358 AD Basil partnered with some of his family and friends to found the first Christian hospital. This hospital was free for all who were in need, and offered the ministry of healing. Basil was familiar with James 5:15, “And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” Basil knew one of the best ways we can show God’s love to those who are in need is through acts of healing. We should offer and pray for physical healing whenever possible. Our work as followers of Jesus Christ must be a work of healing. If we are trying to do the work of Jesus, but that work is not healing to others, we are not doing God’s work. Today we can carry on the legacy of Basil by supporting ministries offering physical healing to those who are in need. We can also make sure our presence is healing to the souls of those around us. Today I encourage you to pray about how you might be able to be a healing presence to those who are in your life.
