Lent Devotion Guide #16 – Overcoming The Lies: I’ll Do It Someday

MONDAY MARCH 15, 2021

An Introduction
Hello Connect Church Family! As we prepare for the coming of Easter I will be sharing a sermon series titled, “Overcoming the Lies.” To accompany the sermon series and help us grow as individual Christians, we have also put together this devotional guide. I hope this will be a blessing to you! Every weekday, for the next several weeks, you are invited to join your church family and spend a few moments in this book. A number of people from our church community have contributed to make this booklet possible. On other days I have shared short thoughts on scriptures and left space for you to pray through what the scripture means for you. I hope you will join me and many others in your church family as we prepare for the coming of Easter!

Read: James 4:13-17

I don’t like feeling uncomfortable and I’m a bit of an avoider, if I’m being honest. We can throw procrastinator in there too as well. The older I get though, the more I can recognize my tendency to put things off when something feels well, hard. The enemy wants us to believe that we have time in the future to mend our broken relationships. We’ll have time later to reach out to that neighbor or old friend, or later this week I’ll make time to spend with my husband and my kids. Someday I’ll invite someone to church. Someday I’ll share my faith with my friends.
But as Christians we are taught that we are not promised tomorrow. Scripture says our lives are like vapors, appearing here for just a short time, then gone. That’s why God calls us to live with urgency for serving Him and others. He wants us lean into Him, to trust Him; and that by His strength, love and patience, that we can pursue what we are called to do, today.
