Lent Devotion Guide #13 – Overcoming The Lies: Worry

WEDNESDAY MARCH 10, 2021

An Introduction
Hello Connect Church Family! As we prepare for the coming of Easter I will be sharing a sermon series titled, “Overcoming the Lies.” To accompany the sermon series and help us grow as individual Christians, we have also put together this devotional guide. I hope this will be a blessing to you! Every weekday, for the next several weeks, you are invited to join your church family and spend a few moments in this book. A number of people from our church community have contributed to make this booklet possible. On other days I have shared short thoughts on scriptures and left space for you to pray through what the scripture means for you. I hope you will join me and many others in your church family as we prepare for the coming of Easter!
-Pastor Adam Ricks

Read: Psalm 94:19

We love a family member who is killing themselves with an addiction. Our fears for this vulnerable, desperate person are crushing. Our worries and anxieties bring them no comfort or help. Our worries have no power, no courage. Only God has the power and the love to save them. Only God gives us the courage to hope. In constant prayer, we give Jesus all our fears, all our trust, and all our hope. We are blessed to exchange our worries for the image of our cherished one cradled in God’s loving and healing arms. Thank you, Jesus, through you we live in love and faith.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
” Amen
