SPIRITUAL GROWTH
Friday
Read: 2 Peter 1:5-8
“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (NIV 2 Peter 1:5-8)
Study: Everything we do should lead back to love. It is our goals as Christians to never be ineffective or unfruitful. Peter gives us a good list of ways to accomplish this. We should always be virtuous. This means we do our best at everything we do. We should always seek knowledge. We should always exercise self-control in our workplaces and homes. We should persevere in our struggles, our pains, and remember that we are not alone. We should seek Godliness because that is our goal and desire. Mutual affection keeps us centered because we know that without out the ones we love around us, we would be lost. Peter leads us, after all of these things, back to the thing that matters the most: Love. This weekend, do something to show that love to someone else.
Prayer: I love you Lord. Thank you for the love you first showed me. Through goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, and mutual affection, let me show others that love. In Christ, Amen.
