Read: Isaiah 40:3

“A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” ” (NIV Isaiah 40:3)

Study: Before Jesus, John the Baptist prepared people for his coming. John lived in the wilderness, baptizing people as he taught about the coming Lord. This was fulfilling the prophet Isaiah’s word here in our verse for today. This preparation did should not stop with John. It is our job, as Christians, to prepare for the coming of Lord again. Our world can feel like a wilderness at times. Do you see people who are working to “make straight” the desert for Christ? Today, consider in what ways you can prepare this world for our Christ. Do something to show the world the love of Christ. Every little thing matters.

Pray: Lord, prepare me to prepare a way for you. Let me be the light this week to those around me. Amen.
