Simon the Zealot

Study: We do not know much about Simon the Zealot except that he was a Zealot whose name was Simon. Zealots were Jewish Nationalists who held a deep hatred for the Romans. They were known for their reckless actions on behalf of their religious beliefs. We see Simon, the fanatical Nationalist who would have hated the Romans, abandon that hatred to follow a Christ of love. Is there someone that you dislike? Is your passion untampered in a way that can be harmful? Allow Jesus to transform those feelings and passions.

Pray: Heavenly God, Transform my passions. Let me see all people as your children. You loved me while I was still a sinner. Let me love those who do not know you yet. Amen.
