GPS Guide – January 28, 2020

FIVE YEARS FROM NOW SERIES

This Weeks Introduction: When we set lifelong spiritual goals for ourselves, we must understand that our lives will not always be the way that they are currently.  We will experience a variety of seasons that come and go.  Through every season we are called to seek after sanctification.  Sanctification is the idea that each of us has a potential that we can reach.  Each of us can become who God designed us to be.  This journey towards sanctification does not happen by only pursuing Christ sometimes.  Each season of our life presents unique opportunities to learn something unique about what it means to become a disciple of Jesus Christ.  This week’s GPS guide will help you to think and pray about faithfully pursuing your spiritual goals through the ups and downs of life.  ~ Pastor Adam Ricks

Tuesday

Read: Psalm 37:7, Lamentations 3:25

” Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
    when they carry out their wicked schemes. ” (Psalm 37:7)

” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; ” (NIV Lamentations 3:25)

Study: We must faithfully pursue sanctification in waiting seasons.  God does not typically act on our schedule, and often times does not do the things that we expect.  This can lead to long seasons of waiting.  During times of waiting we can still choose to be faithful and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.  By simply being faithful during times of waiting we can grow into more mature disciples of Jesus Christ.  What makes it difficult for you to wait?  Have you ever experienced simply having to wait on the lord?  What can you do to be a faithful disciple during times of waiting?

Prayer: Lord God, please help me develop the spiritual discipline of patience.  Please help me to be willing to wait on you during seasons of waiting. Amen.
