Lent Devotion Guide #21 – Overcoming The Lies: I’m Not The Happy Type
MONDAY MARCH 22, 2021
An Introduction
Hello Connect Church Family! As we prepare for the coming of Easter I will be sharing a sermon series titled, “Overcoming the Lies.” To accompany the sermon series and help us grow as individual Christians, we have also put together this devotional guide. I hope this will be a blessing to you! Every weekday, for the next several weeks, you are invited to join your church family and spend a few moments in this book. A number of people from our church community have contributed to make this booklet possible. On other days I have shared short thoughts on scriptures and left space for you to pray through what the scripture means for you. I hope you will join me and many others in your church family as we prepare for the coming of Easter!

Read: Philippians 4:11-13
Philippians 4:11-13 speaks of knowing what it is to know of being in need, and to know what it is to have plenty. Speaking from my own journey, I have experienced both. I grew up in a family being the oldest of four siblings with a father that worked his tail off to provide for us and a mother that taught us right and wrong. We may not of had the brand name shirts or shoes growing up, but we also had everything we needed. As Trish and I have grown professionally and more importantly spiritually we have been blessed to be able to travel and see our children grow and mature. Joy is not found in the material things we seek pleasure in, because they only last for a moment. I have learned that Joy, true Joy, is an internal promise that comes from God that we are His children and are blessed. That does not mean everyday will be easy, but we can learn to trust God and find Joy in knowing his love.
