ENVY
Introduction: This week we will be focusing on the sin of Envy. Envy is traditionally listed as one of the “7 deadly sins” because it is a sin that can lead us on a path to many other sins. This week we will examine envy, and the way in which we might be able to escape its powerful grip. ~ Pastor Adam Ricks

Read: Hebrews 13:5
” 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” ” (NIV Hebrews 13:5)
Study: We can eliminate envy with the spiritual practice of gratitude. We are commanded throughout the scripture to practice gratitude. One helpful tool that many Christians use is called a “gratitude journal.” This simple spiritual practice involves taking a few minutes each day and writing down the various things for which you are grateful. This spiritual discipline prevents us from being distracted by envy. We are called to want the things that God wants for us, not the things that God wants for others. What are the things that you are grateful for? Take a few moments and jot down the things that you are grateful for and lift those things up to the lord in prayer.
Pray: Lord, I am grateful for the many blessings you have bestowed upon me. Please remind me every day to be so grateful that I forget to be envious of others. Amen.
