WHY HOPE? – GRACE
THURSDAY
Read: Romans 5:5 ESV
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. “
Study: Our irrational hope comes from the Holy Spirit. It is not natural for human beings to remain hopeful in the midst of constant challenges. The ability to have a sustained hope in the midst of darkness does not come from within us, but comes from the power of the Holy Spirit. If we want to be hopeful then we need to make sure that we don’t just try harder to be hopeful, but pray more for the gift of hope. A prayer for hope is a prayer that God loves to answer. When we pray for hope, God gives us the gift of hope. When was the last time that you prayed for hope? When was the last time you prayed that God might give the gift of hope to another? What can you do to make ‘praying for hope’ a habit?
Prayer: God I want to ask you for the gift of hope. I want to be hopeful in the midst of darkness, but I need your help. Please help me to be more hopeful today.
