Daily Devotional – Day 9 Wesley Challenge
Day 9: Am I Defeated in Any Part of My Life?
Scripture:
Galatians 6:1-6
Daily Challenge:
Identify one area where you feel stuck and take one small step toward freedom today.
Teaching:
Many of us carry areas of quiet defeat—habits we can’t break, thoughts we can’t control, or patterns we feel powerless to change. Over time, we begin to accept these struggles as permanent. But the Gospel tells a different story. Through Christ, we are no longer condemned or powerless. While struggle may still exist, defeat does not have to define us. God’s Spirit works within us to bring freedom, healing, and transformation. The first step is acknowledging where we feel stuck. The next step is inviting God into that space. This includes the very scary step of inviting others who love you to help carry your burdens when you feel defeated. God expects Christins to live in community so that we can encourage and help one another. When we feel defeated it is nearly impossible to overcome those challenges alone. When Wesley and the members of the first Holy Club first asked this question to each other, they were opening to door to not only admit their individual challenges, but to aid each other in carrying their burdens. Change rarely happens all at once, but it does begin with one step of surrender. You are not alone in your struggle, and you are not beyond God’s ability to restore. Today is a day to believe that freedom is possible.
Reflection Questions:
- Is there an area of my life where I feel consistently defeated?
- Have I invited God into that struggle, or tried to handle it alone?
- Who have I asked for help, and who should I ask for help?
Prayer:
Lord, I bring my struggles before You. Remind me that I am not defined by my failures. Fill me with Your strength and lead me toward freedom. Help me take steps of faith, even when it feels difficult. Thank You for Your grace.
