Daily Devotional – Day 5 Wesley Challenge
Day 5: Did I Disobey God in Anything?
Scripture:
1 John 1:9
Daily Challenge:
Take time tonight to reflect on your day and confess anything that needs to be brought before God.
Teaching:
The grace of Jesus gives all of us total freedom. Total freedom means that we can choose to obey God, or not. Obedience is one of the clearest indicators of our love for God. Yet none of us lives in perfect obedience. There are moments when we fall short, choose our own way, or ignore what we know is right. The good news is that God does not respond to our disobedience with rejection, but with grace. Today’s question reminds us that the path to grace requires acknowledging and confessing when we have fallen short. Confession is not about shame—it is about restoration. When we bring our failures to God, He forgives us and renews us. Ignoring sin creates distance, but confession restores closeness. This question is not meant to condemn but to invite us into honesty. A healthy relationship with God includes regular reflection and repentance. When we acknowledge where we’ve gone wrong, we open the door for God to transform us. Today, don’t hide—come honestly before Him.
Reflection Questions:
- Is there anything I need to confess to God today?
- Do I tend to ignore or address areas of disobedience in my life?
- How does confession help restore my relationship with God?
Prayer:
God, I come before You with honesty. Forgive me for the ways I have disobeyed You. Cleanse my heart and renew my spirit. Help me to walk in obedience moving forward. Thank You for Your grace and mercy.
