Daily Devotional – Day 17 Wesley Challenge
Day 17: Do I Keep What Is Told in Confidence?
Scripture:
Proverbs 11:13
Daily Challenge:
Practice remaining silent in a time when you are tempted to speak.
Teaching:
Strong relationships are a core necessity for a healthy life. And trust is one of the most valuable things we can offer others. When someone shares something in confidence, they are placing that trust in our hands. Yet it can be tempting to pass along information, even in subtle or seemingly harmless ways. Scripture reminds us that a trustworthy person keeps a confidence. When we protect what others share, we build strong, meaningful relationships. When we break confidence, even unintentionally, we damage trust. This question invites us to examine how we handle what others entrust to us. Our words have the power to build or break relationships. Today, choose to be someone others can trust.
Reflection Questions:
- Am I careful with what others share with me?
- Have I ever broken someone’s trust by sharing something I shouldn’t have?
- How can I become more trustworthy in my relationships?
Prayer:
God, help me to be trustworthy with my words. Teach me to guard what others share with me. Give me wisdom and self-control in my conversations. Help me to build trust, not break it. Let my words honor You.
