Daily Devotional – Day 13 Wesley Challenge
Day 13: How Do I Spend My Spare Time?
Scripture:
Ephesians 5:15–16
Daily Challenge:
Be intentional with your free time today—choose something that refreshes your soul or strengthens your faith.
Teaching:
This is another question Wesley askes in order to help us live our lives on purpose. This is not a question about productivity, and making sure that we are getting something accomplished every minute of the day. We certainly are called to work, but we are also called to rest, spend time with loved ones, and have fun. In the age of the internet there are many things that will jump in and fill our moments that are not being lived with intentionality. While rest is important, not all rest is equal. Some activities refresh us, while others leave us feeling drained. God invites us to use our time wisely, making the most of every opportunity. This doesn’t mean we can’t relax—it means we choose life-giving rhythms. When we are intentional with our time, we create space for growth, connection, and purpose. This question challenges us to evaluate how we are using the moments we’ve been given. Today, choose what leads to life.
Reflection Questions:
- How do I typically spend my free time?
- Does my spare time bring life or distraction?
- What is one change I can make to use my time more intentionally?
Prayer:
Lord, help me to use my time wisely. Guide me toward things that bring life and growth. Protect me from distractions that pull me away from You. Teach me to be intentional with every moment. Help me honor You with my time.
