Waiting With Readiness
Teaching:
Waiting with readiness means we posture ourselves for immediate obedience to whatever God calls us to do. The shepherds didn’t just hear the angel’s announcement—they acted without hesitation. When Scripture says, “They went with haste,” it shows us what readiness looks like in real time. Waiting on God is not simply watching the clock; it is staying spiritually awake and responsive. When we wait with readiness, our hearts stay soft, our minds stay focused, and our priorities stay aligned with God’s desires. Readiness means that when God opens a door, we don’t spend three days debating whether to walk through it. Instead, we move in faith, trusting that God’s call always leads us somewhere good. Too often, we waste seasons of waiting by becoming complacent, discouraged, or distracted. But readiness changes waiting into expectation. It says, “God is about to do something, and I don’t want to miss it.” The shepherds were ordinary workers, yet they became part of the greatest story ever told because they were ready. Readiness is not about being perfect; it’s about being available. God uses people who stay spiritually awake. When we wait with readiness, we position ourselves to participate in God’s unfolding story.
Scripture Reading: Luke 2:15–20
Prayer:
Father, give me a heart that responds quickly to Your leading. Remove hesitation, fear, and distraction from my spirit. Help me wait with expectation instead of frustration. Teach me to move with faith when You speak. Thank You for preparing me for the things You are preparing for me.
Meditation Questions:
1. What keeps me from responding quickly when God calls?
2. How can I practice readiness in my daily life?
3. What does “haste” look like in my obedience?
