Daily Devotional Guide – December 18
God Is Fuller of Grace Than We Expect
Teaching:
Grace flows abundantly from God’s heart, God pours out far more grace than we often anticipate or believe we deserve. Mary and Elizabeth both experienced God’s overflowing grace in ways that were completely unexpected. Mary received grace through the calling to carry the Messiah, a blessing far beyond her earthly qualifications. Elizabeth received grace through a long-awaited miracle that lifted the heavy burden she had carried for years. God’s grace always surprises us because it is not given based on merit—it is given out of His love. When waiting turns to wonder, we realize that God has been pouring grace over our lives all along. Sometimes we are so focused on the delays or struggles that we overlook the grace God is giving us every day. Grace shows up in strength to endure, peace in the storm, and hope in the waiting. It shows up in the right word at the right time, just like Elizabeth’s Spirit-filled declaration over Mary. God’s grace goes deeper than our failures and wider than our weaknesses. He does not hold back His goodness from His children; instead, He delights in showering us with forgiveness when we are in need. When we open our hearts to His grace, waiting becomes less burdensome and more transformative. God’s grace carries us, sustains us, and leads us into the wonder of His plans.
Recommended Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:4–7
Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me with more grace than I can comprehend. Help me recognize the grace you show me each day. Teach me to rest in your kindness instead of striving to earn it. Let your grace shape my heart as I wait on You. Fill me with gratitude for the grace that sustains me.
Questions for Meditation:
1. How has God shown me grace recently?
2. What makes it difficult for me to accept God’s grace fully?
3. How does recognizing God’s grace change the way I wait?
