Daily Devotional Guide – December 17
God Is Stronger Than You Expect
Teaching:
God’s strength is far greater than we often give Him credit for. We might know God is stronger than our hardships in our minds, but we often don’t feel it in our chests. This can especially be true when we are carrying wounds that feel too deep or too old to heal. Elizabeth had carried years of disappointment, shame, and sorrow, yet God broke through those wounds with miraculous joy. Mary also carried fears about the unknown future, yet God strengthened her through the affirmation she received on her visit. Their meeting shows us that God does not just fulfill promises—He also heals hearts. Many of our wounds feel impossible because we have tried to fix them ourselves or because time has made them feel permanent. But God’s strength reaches into the hardest places with power and tenderness. There is no wound too deep, no history too painful, and no disappointment too heavy for God to redeem. Healing is not about forgetting the past but allowing God to transform and redeem it. When waiting turns to wonder, we discover that God has been working to heal us even when we were unaware. His strength restores what we believed was too broken to mend. He is stronger than our grief, our fear, our regret, and our brokenness. When we surrender our wounds to him, he brings healing in ways that leave us in awe of his power.
Recommended Scripture Reading: Psalm 147:3
Prayer:
Lord, You are stronger than every wound in my heart. Heal the places in me that feel too broken or too painful. Give me courage to surrender my hurt to You. Let Your strength restore hope where I feel weak. Thank You for being my healer and my comfort.
Questions for Meditation:
1. What wound have I considered too deep for God to heal?
2. How might God be working to bring healing even now?
3. What would it look like to surrender my hurt to God?
